[JULY2023] If you’re coming to enjoy the summer outdoors in central Ontario there’s gonna be bugs, though what kind and how bad will depend on both location and weather. (Related, see my previous blog post: Bug Wisdom).
Where I am, it seems to be a heavy season for mosquitoes. I’m not quite sure why, though a mild winter and an early kick-start to hot temps are likely factors. Perhaps even the forest fire smoke has affected things. On the up-side, the deer flies are lighter than usual so far.
In any case, each year I like to introduce or add some kind of improvement to the guest experience and–great timing folks–you can now make use of a large (7′ height, 60 sq ft base) pop-up screen tent if there is somewhere on the property you would like to hang out without the nuisance of bugs. The SoundForest is one such place… so lovely and peaceful, but having to swat and shoo bugs away sure detracts from the Zen of it all!
